The Cleansing of the Heart

Are not days moving fast? We barely have time to stop, speak to the ones beside us? Are we sparing time for the remembrance of Allah? To do dhikr?

"I pray 5 times a day" is not only the answer! Of the 24 hours a day you are blessed with, do you utter a word Alhamdulillah? SubhanAllah? Allahu Akbar? Was it a insubstantial slip of tongue or a remembrance with the reflection on it? Is it forgetfulness or failed time management that deprives of sparing time for the remembrance of Allah? Or the failure to understand the rewards and out-turns of these dhikr?

The Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said: “Shall I not tell you about the best of your deeds, the most pure (i.e., righteous and sincere) of them to your Creator, that which will entitle you to the highest ranks, which is better for you than donating gold and silver for the sake of Allah, which is better than fighting your enemies in Jihaad where you kill them or they kill you (i.e., you become martyrs)?” The people replied: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” So he said: “The mention of Allah.” (Tirmidhi)

Abû Hurairah (r.a.) narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “Allah will give shade to seven (types of people) under His Shade (on the Day of Resurrection). One of them will be a person who remembers Allah and his eyes are then flooded with tears.” (Bukhâri, Vol. 8, Hadeeth 486)

The best dhikr is reciting Al-Quran!
10 rewards for every letter you read! Is not that amazing?
We would rush and wait in queues days and nights, if a shopping mall said '10 bucks for every buck you spend!', how many of us pick up the Quran and read it? (no long queues, no straining right at your home... and still?)

Al-Quran [7:203]

SubhanAllah / Subhanallahi wabihamdihi
Say it 100 times a day and sins being wiped way even if they are like foam in the sea! And another hadith refers to a tree will be planted in paradise!

Subhanallahi wabihamdihi WasubhaanAllaahil 'adheem
(Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme)
'Two saying light in the tongue, heavy on the scales and beloved to the most merciful!

Sayyid Ul Istigar (Supplication for Forgiveness)

"O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You."

If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.

SubhanAllah wal hamdulillah, wa la ilahaillAllah wa Allahu akbar
"I praise Allah (or All Praise if to Allah) above all attributes that do not suit His Majesty.  All praise is for Allah.  This is no deity worthy of worship besides Allah. Allah is Great."

This combination of dhikr is the one most beloved by Allah, subhana wa ta’ala.  When you say them, sins fall off of you like leaves off of trees.

La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah
"There is no power or might except (by) Allah."

You will enter through a special door in Paradise for those who oft use this remembrance.

La illaha ilAllah(u)
"There is No God But Allah"
Abu Huraira (RA)  reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "When a servant of Allah utters the words la ilaha illallah (there is no God except Allah) sincerely, the doors of heaven open up for these words until they reach the Throne of Allah, so long as its utterer keeps away from the major sins.”

Astaghfirullah al-'Adheemal-ladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih
"I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy except Him, the Living, The Eternal, and I repent unto Him"

Whoever says the above words, Allah will forgive him even if he deserted the army's ranks

La illaha ilAllahu, waHdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul Mulku, wa lahul Hamd, wa Huwa ala kulli shaiy'in Qadeer
"There is No God But Allah Alone, who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the raise, and He is Able to do all things"

Whoever says the above ten times, will have the reward for freeing four slaves from the Children of Isma'il
